What are some examples of dances under the Social Ballroom Dance umbrella?
There are two types of Social Ballroom Dances which are line of dance and spot dance.
Line of dance involves dancing counter clockwise around the dance floor and includes dances like:
- Argentine Tango
- Country Two-Step
- Fox Trot
- Viennese Waltz
Spot dances are danced in place within an approximate ten foot diameter and includes dances like:
- East Coast Swing
- Slow Nightclub
- West Coast Swing
Each dance consists of steps which are used to create figures. The male (lead) dynamically selects the figures to be danced and guides the couple on the dance floor.
The most important thing to remember is to enjoy yourself, this is not competition dancing; if you make an error, laugh it off and continue.
